One of the many, MANY questions I am asked about this trip is how I can afford it. Well – frankly – I can’t. Not all at once. It has always been my plan to work along the way (in addition to saving money whenever possible).
Well- I’ve done it. Everything I own is packed away. I’ve left a job I absolutely love and people I adore and admire and love. My car is loaded and I’ve hit the road. It is at once exhilarating and frightening.

It seems I have been living online lately. Between work and planning my trip, I have logged some serious screen hours. I actually love it. This week I’ve been putting together a list of places I would like to volunteer on my road-trip.
In September 2014 I will embark on a journey to perform volunteer work in all 50 states. Because this isn’t organized through any type of group, I can choose which organizations and events where I will donate my time.
