Miles Perret Cancer Services Launches its Change For Miles Campaign
Miles Perret Cancer Services (MPCS) will launch an innovative program using simple
coin collection to help change the lives
of families
fighting cancer in Acadiana. The
campaign, Change for Miles, will be officially introduced by Mayor Joey Durel and
local
bank
executives
at the Miles Perret Cancer Services Center, 2130 Kaliste Saloom
Road on Wednesday, December 3 at 3:30pm.
The Change for Miles campaign encourages everyone to pick up special plastic
containers, fill them with loose change,
and then
return
the filled bottles to locations of 8
area banks. “We may be inclined to pass up on a penny or nickel on the sidewalk;
but a
full bottle of those same coins can supply a cancer patient with oral supplements for two
weeks or pay a utility bill when the
family provider is on chemotherapy,” said Hunter
Perret.
“Everyday pocket change will turn into funds to aid MPCS meet its mission of ‘helping
families in Acadiana fighting and surviving cancer
with care and compassion’”
“We believe this campaign will be a great resource with the support of businesses that are
willing to pass
out bottles to their employees, schools that are willing to distribute them
to their students, bank branches that are distributing and collecting
the filled containers,
and the thousands of individuals that will gather their spare change to support this effort,”
said Perret.
Area branches of Capital One Bank, Farmers Merchants Bank and Trust, First National
Bank, Gulf Coast Bank,
Home Bank,
Rayne State Bank, Regions Bank, and the River
Ranch branch of MidSouth Bank will all serve as collection points
for “Change For
Miles” containers.
Empty campaign collection bottles are also available for distribution
at all of the bank locations and
at the MPCS center. Area businesses, banks, schools,
churches, civic organizations and other groups are invited to call
Miles Perret Cancer
Services at 337.984.1920 or visit www.changeformiles.org to join the Change for Miles
team.
